Motorcycle Rider Killed in Santa Ana Crash on I-5 Freeway, Jamboree Road
Santa Ana, CA (June 15, 2025) — A motorcycle rider was killed Sunday evening in a multi-vehicle collision that shut down several lanes of northbound I-5 near Jamboree Road in Santa Ana, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The fatal crash was reported at approximately 8:11 p.m. on Sunday, June 15th, involving a civilian motorcycle and a black SUV, with additional reports indicating a dark blue BMW was also involved. Witnesses described the motorcyclist swerving between lanes just before colliding at high speed with the rear of the SUV. The rider was ejected and found unresponsive in lane 3.
CHP noted that one vehicle, believed to be a dark blue car possibly struck by the motorcycle, did not stop at the scene. Good Samaritans reportedly attempted to render aid until first responders arrived. The Orange County Coroner was called to the scene at 8:29 p.m., and the rider was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
Due to the severity of the crash and the debris field, CHP issued a SigAlert by 8:35 p.m., closing all northbound lanes of I-5 except for the HOV lane. Traffic quickly backed up, with some drivers reportedly making illegal U-turns on the freeway and exiting via the Culver Drive and Jeffrey Road on-ramps to avoid the closure.
Caltrans crews arrived to assist with a hard closure, and a tow was requested for the involved motorcycle. Lanes remained closed into the night, with cleanup and investigation efforts ongoing.
The identity of the deceased rider has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. CHP is investigating whether speed, reckless driving, or other vehicles played a role in the collision.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage to contact the CHP Santa Ana office.
