Motorcycle, Van Crash on Highway 70, Lower Honcut Road, Oroville

OROVILLE, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2026) — A motorcycle rider was injured Friday in a crash involving a large van or motorhome on Highway 70, just south of Lower Honcut Road in Oroville.
The two-vehicle collision occurred on southbound State Route 70 around 1:52 p.m. on Oct. 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials responded and located a 20-foot Mercedes travel van and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider had collided at the intersection.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection and the motorhome pulled over to the right shoulder. A light blue BMW SUV was stopped in the slow lane, but it’s unknown if the vehicle was involved.
The Butte County Fire Department responded to help those injured in the crash. There were four people in the motorhome and one person riding the motorcycle, but it’s unknown how many were hurt. The motorcyclist went down in the No. 2 Lane and was conscious, but no more information.
Both vehicles required tow trucks to remove them from the roadway due to damage from the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation to determine fault.
