SANTA ROSA: Ricardo Olivarez Killed in DUI Crash at Hall and Piezzi Roads; Ethan Aizikovitz Arrested
SANTA ROSA, California — According to an article by Press Democrat, a motorcycle rider was killed after being struck by an alleged DUI driver at Hall and Piezzi roads.
The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Ricardo Olivarez.
Police learned from initial investigation that on March 10 at about 9:27 p.m., Olivarez was riding in a Suzuki motorcycle and was coming to a stop at the intersection when he was suddenly rammed from behind by a Mitsubishi Outlander.
The collision ejected and caused serious injuries to Olivarez, a 2014 graduate of Santa Rosa High School.
As per the article, Olivarez was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he unfortunately died around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Meanwhile, responding police officers said the Mitrsubishi driver—identified as 24-year-old Ethan Aizikovitz, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol during the fatal crash. He was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of drunken driving causing great bodily injury. Then, an additional allegation of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated was added following the motorcycle rider’s death, as per Press Democrat.
A recent report mentioned Aizikovitz was released from custody Saturday morning after he posted $125,000 bail.
