Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash with Driver Making U-Turn
MADERA, Calif. (June 24, 2026) — A driver making a U-turn reportedly caused a fatal collision with an oncoming motorcyclist Friday night on State Route 41, north of SR-145 in Madera.
According to the California Highway Patrol – Madera, the collision occurred around 8 p.m. on June 19th, between a 2011 Mercedes E350 and a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Authorities reported an 86-year-old man riding the motorcycle was traveling behind the Mercedes driven by a 19-year-old Fresno man and both were heading north on SR-41.
The driver in the Mercedes reportedly pulled onto the right shoulder and then attempted a U-turn, pulling directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclists and causing a collision between the two vehicles.
The elderly man riding on the Harley-Davidson collided into the driver’s side of the Mercedes. The man was thrown off his bike and into the roadway where he suffered severe injuries.
Paramedics responded and the injured rider was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, but he later died at the hospital.
