Motorcyclist, Big Rig Crash on I-405 Near Sand Canyon Avenue in Irvine

Irvine, CA (June 17, 2025) — A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday morning in a crash involving a big rig on the northbound 405 Freeway, just south of Sand Canyon Avenue in Irvine.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of the crash at approximately 9:51 a.m. on June 17, 2025.
The collision involved a black motorcycle and a blue semi-truck. The semi-truck was reportedly traveling from northbound I-405 to southbound State Route 133 when the incident occurred. The two vehicles collided due to unknown circumstances. The rider requested emergency medical assistance shortly after the incident.
CHP and Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) responded quickly to the scene. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to treat the injured motorcyclist. The rider’s condition has not yet been disclosed.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by CHP officers. Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
Drivers are urged to stay alert and share the road responsibly, especially around motorcycles and large trucks.
