ARLETA, California (April 20, 2016) — A motorcyclist died early Wednesday morning in a collision with a pickup truck and then a big rig on the Interstate 5 Freeway at Osborne Street, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The fatal collision took place about 12:35 a.m. this morning and prompted a SigAlert. Police say the initial crash was between the bike and a pickup truck, but the rider was thrown off the motorcycle and struck by the big rig truck. The rider died of his or her injuries at the scene of the crash, police said.
The motorcycle rider was later identified by the coroner as 23-year-old Erick Kevin Areyhanian of Burbank.
The traffic accident caused a temporary freeway shut down for the police investigation and cleanup.
