Motorcyclist Injured in Crash on Interstate 40 Near Kelbaker Road

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (June 25, 2025) — A motorcyclist sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital following a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 near Kelbaker Road and the Mojave National Preserve.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) the collision was reported around 11:13 a.m. on June 25th at mile marker 82.5. Early reports indicated a motorcycle went down in the slow lane after colliding with multiple vehicles. Emergency responders found the rider fully ejected from the motorcycle and lying on the roadway.

CHP officers, paramedics, and Medic Engine 32 responded to the scene. Due to the severity of the motorcyclist’s injuries, Care Flight 6 was dispatched and transported the patient to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

At one point, both westbound lanes were blocked as emergency crews worked to stabilize the patient and clear the scene. CHP requested Caltrans to initiate a hard closure of the number two lane to allow the air ambulance to land. By 12:44 p.m., the fast lane had reopened, and both lanes were eventually cleared.

A Toyota Camry was also towed from the scene, and CHP logs indicate additional vehicles may have been involved, though the exact number and cause of the crash remain under investigation.

Authorities have not released the identity of the motorcyclist or any updates on their condition.
