Motorcyclist Killed in Car Crash on PCH, at 24th Street in Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (March 30, 2026) — Steve Yaser Mhwaish, 28, of Cerritos, died in a crash while riding a motorcycle Saturday with a driver who pulled out of a driveway into his path on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Huntington Beach.
The collision occurred around 2:36 p.m. Saturday, March 28th at Pacific Coast Highway and 24th Street in the Sunset Beach area, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Investigators said the rider was traveling northbound on a blue BMW motorcycle when a 19-year-old Long Beach woman in a white Toyota Camry pulled out of a parking lot onto southbound Pacific Coast Highway, leading to a collision. A witness reported seeing the rider, dressed in dark clothing, thrown from the motorcycle and landing on the shoulder.
Paramedics responded, but the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Steve Yaser Mhwaish.
The driver of the Camry stopped and cooperated with authorities.
The crash prompted a temporary closure of a nearby freeway connector during the investigation and cleanup, with all lanes reopening later that afternoon. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
