CARLSBAD, California (April 29, 2016) – A motorcyclist identified as Jaime Lopez-Martinez was killed after a traffic collision on southbound 5 Freeway Friday afternoon, according to the Fox 5 San Diego.
The accident happened at around 3:45 p.m. just south of Poinsettia Lane.
Preliminary reports stated that a 27-year-old woman was driving in a 2012 Hyundai Sonata when she switched lanes into Jaime Lopez-Martinez as he was ejected from his bike and onto the shoulder of the freeway.
Martinez, 35, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene as paramedics arrived at the scene.
Per NBC News San Diego, authorities confirmed that that the 27-year-old woman was under the influence and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI and was taken to Vista Detention Facility.
