Fatal Motorcycle Accident Peach and Donert in Hesperia
HESPERIA, Calif. (August 2, 2018) — A motorcyclist rider, identified as Marty Carroll Jr. was struck and killed Wednesday morning in a collision at Peach Ave and Donert Street, according to the Victor Valley News.
The driver of an SUV struck the bike about 11:35 a.m. on Aug. 1. The Apple Valley man riding the motorcycle suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital where he later died.
The man driving the SUV suffered minor injuries. The crash is under investigation by the Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). So far the investigation has determined that the motorcycle rider had been driving north on Peach Avenue on his 2012 Harley Davidso. At some point, the rider crossed over the double yellow lines directly into the path of the 2011 Kia SUV as it headed south on Peach Avenue.
Witnesses may contact Deputy Eric Getts or Sergeant Doug Hubbard from the Hesperia Station.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, it’s unknown who is responsible for this horrible crash. The initial results indicate the motorcyclist could have veered into the path of the SUV, but that has not been confirmed. We do not know the condition of the roadway where this happened. There may have been a pot hole or deep cracks in the roadway that could have caused the bike to veer to the left. A full forensic examination of the evidence and witness statements will help police determine fault.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the man who died at this difficult time.
