Motorcyclist Roby Roel Killed in Crash on Explorer Road, Avocado Boulevard

Man, 22, Identified as Rider Killed in Motorcycle Accident
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (May 14, 2025) — Motorcycle rider, Roby Roel, 22, was killed and his passenger injured Sunday in a crash with an SUV on Explorer Road and Avocado Boulevard in the La Mesa area.

The two-vehicle collision happened around 8 p.m. on May 11th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 22-year-old El Cajon man was riding a Ducati motorcycle northbound on Avocado when a southbound Ford Explorer turned east onto Explorer Road. The two vehicles crashed head-on and the young man was thrown off the bike, the CHP said.
Fatal Motorcycle Accident in La Mesa
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, however, his 20-year-old female passenger survived with major injuries. She was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old La Mesa man driving the Ford sustained minor injuries. Paramedics transported the injured El Cajon woman and the La Mesa man to a hospital for further treatment.
Investigators are working to determine liability for the crash and whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
