Motorcyclist Injured in Collision with SUV on I-880 Freeway

Hayward, CA (April 18, 2025) — A traffic collision in San Lorenzo involving a motorcyclist and an SUV caused heavy traffic Friday afternoon on northbound Interstate 880 just south of Hesperian Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The incident was reported around 1:29 p.m. on April 18th when a white Kia SUV and a motorcycle collided in the slow lane. Bystanders attempted to assist by blocking traffic until emergency crews arrived. The rider was reportedly injured, prompting a medical response, and the motorcycle was later towed from the scene.

By 2:12 p.m., CHP confirmed all lanes had reopened.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that the party involved in the crash had three firearms registered under their name. No indication has been made that the weapons were involved in the collision, and further details about their relevance have not been released.

The motorcyclist’s condition has not yet been disclosed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
