Elderly Man Using Walker Struck, Killed on Hughes Avenue
FRESNO, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2023) — Moua Ly, 77, died early Tuesday after being struck by a car at Hughes Avenue and Weber Avenue in central Fresno.
The traffic accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19th, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Police officers investigating the crash reported that Moua Ly was using a walker as he crossed the roadway from the east side of Hughes Avenue, ABC 30 News reports. A driver in an oncoming Chevrolet struck the victim in the roadway.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center. He later died at the hospital.
Meanwhile, police detained the driver who they say had a suspended license and warrants for his arrest. They are working to determine if the motorist was driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.
