MOUNTAIN CENTER, California (January 21, 2015) – John Harvey, 71, of Mountain Center was killed Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash into a tree on Highway 74, about a half mile east of Keen Camp Road, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The traffic accident was reported at 5:45 p.m. Paramedics and firefighters responded to free Harvey from the wreckage as he became trapped in his vehicle, but he died at the scene about 6:16 p.m. The report does not indicate whether other drivers were involved.
The California Highway Patrol’s San Gorgonio station is heading up an investigation into liability for this man’s death.
“My condolences go out to the family of Mr. Harvey as they cope with this tragedy,” said Attorney James Johnson.
