
Man, 70, Hit and Killed by Vehicle Near 42nd Street
Mt. Hope, CA (January 21, 2023) – A pedestrian died following a traffic accident that occurred on Market Street Friday, January 20.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune News, a 2016 Honda Civic was heading west on Market Street around 7:45 p.m. Our sources indicated the female driver approached the 4200 block of Market near 42nd Street, and struck a man who walked in front of her car.
Officials said the Honda hit a 70-year-old man in the Mt. Hope neighborhood of San Diego.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Market Street in Mt. Hope
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the victim lying on the ground. Responding paramedics attended to the injured pedestrian, then rushed him to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts performed by medical personnel, the man sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
The San Diego Police Traffic Division is the agency handling the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine liability in the deadly pedestrian accident that happened on Market Street in Mt. Hope.
