Rollover Collision on I-5 Freeway
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 21, 2023) — A multi-vehicle Bakersfield crash happened on the Interstate 5 Freeway on Wednesday morning, just north of Rowlee Road.
At least one person was injured in the 10:30 a.m. crash on June 21st, according to California Highway Patrol’s Traffic dispatch report.
The traffic accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the I-5 between at least two vehicles.
CHP officials reported one of the vehicles overturned and a woman became trapped inside of it, according to KGET. Also, authorities noted there were fireworks exploding from the overturned vehicle. This set off a grass fire that quickly spread in the area next to the freeway.
Police closed down several northbound traffic lanes at Buttonwillow Drive due to the crash and fire.
Paramedics responded and treated at least one person for undisclosed injuries from the collision.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Interstate 5 crash in Bakersfield.
