Minor Injury Crashes Reported on I-5 Freeway
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2022) — Two separate collisions on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Chula Vista happened Thursday morning near the L Street overpass in San Diego County.
The collisions occurred in the southbound lanes of the I-5 at 2:07 a.m. on Sept. 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One collision involved two vehicles and minor injuries. The other also had two vehicles and minor injuries, but involved a suspected DUI driver, police said.
The vehicles involved included a black BMW, a white Ford Focus, a beige Hummer and another black sedan.
The Ford suffered a flat front tire and required a tow truck. At least one of the vehicles was facing the wrong direction following the collision.
Paramedics responded and noted there were minor injuries, but it’s unknown if they transported anyone to a hospital.
Meanwhile, investigators determined one driver was under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
