Multi-Vehicle Crash 405 Freeway, Sand Canyon Avenue (SR-133)

Rollover Collision on Southbound I-405 Freeway in OC

IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2024) — A multi-vehicle crash in Irvine happened Monday afternoon on the 405 Freeway, under the Sand Canyon Avenue overpass near State Route 133 in Orange County.

The traffic collision occurred in the southbound lanes of the I-405 at 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of a white GMC pickup truck, a Volkswagen Atlas, a Mazda CX4, a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and a red Ford Escape were blocking the HOV lane and other lanes.

At least three of the vehicles were involved including the Ford Escape and the Chevrolet Silverado. Also, one of those vehicles overturned in the collision.

Paramedics responded to help those injured, but there are no further details.
