Multi-Vehicle Crash 405 Freeway, State Route 73 in Costa Mesa

3-Vehicle Collision at 405 and 73 Freeway Transition

COSTA MESA, Calif. (Feb. 1, 2024) — A multi-vehicle crash happened Thursday morning on the northbound Interstate 405 Freeway, just north of the transition to State Route 73 in Costa Mesa.

At least three vehicles were involved in the collision in the HOV lane at around 8:16 a.m. on Feb. 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a dark gray Ford Mustang, a white Jeep Wagoneer and a black Tesla were involved.

A woman in the Mustang reportedly struck her head a couple of times during the collision and required paramedics.

The case remains under investigation to determine fault.
