Multi-Vehicle Crash 405 Freeway, Western Avenue in South Los Angeles
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif., (July 19, 2026) — A crash involving multiple vehicles occurred Sunday night on the southbound I-405 Freeway at the South Western Avenue exit in South Los Angeles.
The collision resulted in at least one person sustaining facial injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
The incident, logged under Incident No. 2389, was reported on July 19th at approximately 6:47 p.m. The drivers involved included a black Chrysler 300 and a dark gray Honda Accord in the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane, while a light gray vehicle was reported on the roadside. According to the CHP logs, the Chrysler overturned and was found on its roof, while the Honda was facing the wrong way in the HOV lane.
Emergency services were promptly notified, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACOFD) and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responding to the scene. The collision reportedly resulted in a female passenger in the rear seat of one of the vehicles suffering facial injuries.
The situation became further complicated when a female occupant of the Chrysler reportedly exited the vehicle and walked away from the scene wearing a black tank top and jeans. Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and the actions of the individuals involved.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively investigating the incident. They have requested that any witnesses to the collision or the events leading up to it come forward with any information they may have.
