Multi-Vehicle Crash at Elk Grove Florin Road and Gerber Road

3 Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash in South Sacramento

Elk Grove, CA (April 18, 2025) — A four-vehicle collision caused significant disruption during the Friday morning commute at the intersection of Elk Grove Florin Road and Gerber Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The incident, which occurred around 7:15 a.m. on April 18th, involved a red Toyota Prius, a white pickup truck, and a gray SUV. Reports indicate that the red Prius may have been driving recklessly prior to the collision.

The drivers of the red car, a white pickup truck towing lawnmowers, and a silver SUV were among the vehicles involved. The pickup and red Prius both had major front-end damage.

Early reports on the crash noted there were unresponsive individuals inside one of the vehicles.

Emergency crews, including fire and medical units, responded quickly. Three people were hospitalized including one who was critically injured and two with minor to moderate injuries. Meanwhile, several eastbound lanes of Gerber Road were temporarily shut down. Southbound Elk Grove Florin Road was also fully closed for a time as authorities managed the scene and cleared the wreckage.

Towing services were dispatched for multiple vehicles, and the roadway was expected to reopen later in the morning. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
