Major Injury Traffic Collision on SR-99 Near Franklin

MERCED, Calif., (April 24, 2026) — A multi-vehicle traffic collision resulted in major injuries Thursday afternoon on Highway 99 South, just north of Franklin Road in Merced.

The incident was reported at 4:11 p.m. on April 23rd and involved three to four vehicles, including a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, a white SUV, and another white pickup. The collision led to a significant traffic backup in the area.

Emergency responders, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and American Medical Response (AMR), were dispatched to the scene. The situation was initially categorized as a collision with unknown injuries, but was later updated to a major injury collision.

The identities and conditions of the individuals involved have not been disclosed at this time.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed damaged vehicles, including the F-150, due to major front-end damage.
