Multi-Vehicle Crash in Mountain View on Highway 101, Shoreline Boulevard

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 1, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash on northbound U.S. Route 101 near Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View on Friday caused traffic delays, authorities said.

The collision was first reported on May 1st around 1:33 p.m. as a two-vehicle crash, initially involving a black Dodge Durango and a black Kia SUV. Subsequent updates indicated as many as three to four vehicles may have been involved, with at least two vehicles coming to rest along the right-hand shoulder beneath the State Route 85 flyover.

At one point, the crash blocked lanes 1 and 2, prompting a response from the California Highway Patrol. By approximately 1:38 p.m., officials clarified that the No. 2 lane remained blocked while crews worked to manage the scene.

Emergency responders requested multiple tow trucks for the damaged vehicles. A Dodge Durango sustained major front-end damage, while a Kia sedan was reported with moderate rear damage. Tow services including National Towing and Transport and Bill’s Towing were dispatched to clear the wreckage.

By about 2:15 p.m., freeway service patrol units had closed out the incident, and the vehicles were in the process of being removed from the scene.

No immediate information regarding injuries has been released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
