Pickup Trucks Crash on I-580 Freeway
RICHMOND, Calif. (May 19, 2022) — A multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate 580 Freeway happened Thursday morning on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.
The collision occurred in the westbound lanes of the I-580 Freeway about 7:03 a.m. on May 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials say the drivers of a white 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup truck and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck were involved in the collision. Both vehicles suffered major front-end damage, police said. Two other vehicles may have been involved, but there are no specific details about them.
The Richmond Fire Department responded to the scene to help the injured. One of the motorists identified as Whalin Ledonne reportedly declined transport by an ambulance to a hospital, but suffered a bump or scratch to the head during the collision. A second person also reported injuries, but it’s unknown if they are serious injuries or not.
Investigators are working to determine liability for the collision.
