Multi-Vehicle Crash on 55 Freeway, McFadden Avenue in Tustin

One Injured in Crash on Southbound SR-55 in OC
TUSTIN, Calif. (April 13, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash prompted a response from emergency crews Monday morning on the southbound 55 Freeway in Tustin.
The crash was reported on April 13th around 8:06 a.m. near McFadden Avenue, involving at least three vehicles, including a white Chevrolet Equinox, a white Ford Lightning, and a blue Kia. Initial California Highway Patrol reports indicated vehicles were blocking slow lanes as those involved attempted to move to the right shoulder and the nearby gore point.
According to logs from the CHP, one of the drivers in the blue Kia became stranded in the HOV lane and requested medical assistance. Fire personnel were dispatched to the scene.
By approximately 8:11 a.m., the blue Kia was still blocking the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes. Freeway Service Patrol units later responded and assisted with moving the vehicles out of traffic lanes. Authorities confirmed all vehicles were eventually relocated to the right shoulder, clearing the roadway.
The incident was cleared shortly before 9 a.m. and remains under investigation.
