More than a dozen vehicles crash on Garden Grove 22 Freeway
ORANGE, Calif. (Nov. 10, 2022) — A huge pileup crash on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway happened Thursday morning just east of Glassell Street in Orange.
The collision, involving as many as 15 vehicles, occurred on the westbound SR-22 about 1:54 p.m. on Nov. 10th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers involved included a blue Nissan, a black Honda Accord, a silver Ford Expedition, a silver GMC, a black Lexus sedan, a black Jeep Wrangler and many other vehicles. Five of the vehicles pulled into the center divider and at least nine to 15 others were blocking the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway, the CHP reports.
“The vehicles are spread across all lanes,” the report said. “A silver Ford Expedition had visible smoke coming from inside the vehicle.”
Paramedics with Metro Net Fire Authority responded to help those hurt in the crash. They transported one person with the last name Parkins to UCI Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed damaged vehicles including the Honda Accord and the blue Nissan from the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
