Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-80 Freeway, Antelope Road in Citrus Heights
CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash in Citrus Heights on the Interstate 80 Freeway near Antelope Road caused traffic disruptions Wednesday morning and possible injuries.
The collision was reported at approximately 7:45 a.m. on September 30, 2026, on westbound I-80 near the Antelope Road offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initial reports indicated a white Subaru and a gray Toyota were involved in a collision. Additional information later indicated that as many as three vehicles were involved, with several vehicles coming to rest on the right shoulder and another vehicle in or near the No. 1 lane.
Investigators also reported debris across multiple lanes. A gray Toyota was reported to have gone off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The California Highway Patrol noted that the driver of the truck involved in the incident may have been looking at another collision when the truck left the roadway.
A fire was also reported in connection with the incident, and officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene. Several parties involved in the collision were reported to be on the right-hand shoulder, although vehicles were initially blocking the No. 2 lane.
Tow trucks were requested to remove damaged vehicles from the area. By approximately 8:19 a.m., the roadway had been cleared, according to CHP traffic information.
Authorities did not immediately release information regarding injuries or the identities of those involved.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Drivers traveling through the area were advised to use caution around emergency and tow crews responding to the scene.
