Multi-Vehicle Crash on Taft Highway (SR-119), Near Tamarisk Road
Collision on State Route 119 | Semi Truck Driver Hospitalized
KERN COUNTY, CA (June 10, 2025) — A multi-vehicle crash involving a semi truck and at least one other vehicle happened Tuesday morning on Taft Highway or State Route 119 near Tamarisk Road in Kern County.
The crash occurred shortly before 9:51 a.m. on June 10th, just north of Valley Acres, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Police received reports of a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles, including a semi truck that may have overturned.
Firefighters Rescue Drivers Trapped in Vehicles
Emergency crews responded rapidly to the scene and located the driver of a silver Mitsubishi Lancer who was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Simultaneously, the semi truck driver was reported pinned inside the cab but was conscious and later determined to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Both individuals were transported to Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, with Hall Ambulance providing medical transport services. Officials confirmed that road closures were quickly enacted: westbound lanes of SR-119 were shut down at Golf Course Road, and eastbound traffic was blocked at Valley West Boulevard. Crews estimated a one-hour delay for eastbound lanes to reopen.
Cleanup operations were underway by 10:14 a.m., with Caltrans and Kern County Roads responding to assist. Golden Empire Towing and Ten West Towing were dispatched to remove the vehicles, including heavy-duty recovery for the semi.
CHP has not yet released details about the cause of the crash or the total number of vehicles involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency and cleanup crews remained on scene.
