Multi-Vehicle Escondido Crash I-15 Freeway, Via Rancho Parkway

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash Tuesday on southbound Interstate 15 Freeway near East Via Rancho Parkway caused traffic disruptions during the morning commute in Escondido.
The California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, involving a gray Tesla Model Y and a dark SUV near Via Rancho Parkway. Initial reports indicated that the crash blocked the two left lanes, prompting responders to work to move the vehicles out of the main traffic lanes.
Just minutes later, CHP dispatch reported that as many as five vehicles were involved in a collision in the freeway’s FasTrak lanes. Authorities also reported separate collisions involving multiple vehicles in the area, including incidents near the southbound Via Rancho Parkway exit.
Several vehicles were moved into the center divider, while an SUV required a tow. A Tesla was also reported to need towing.
Fire department personnel responded to the scene. CHP records indicated no injuries were reported in one of the collisions, but the extent of injuries, if any, in the other incidents was not immediately confirmed.
The circumstances leading to the crashes remain unclear. The incidents occurred during the morning commute when collisions on the I-15 can contribute to significant traffic delays in the Escondido area.
