Fairfield Crash on Highway 12 Near Beck Avenue Causes Major Traffic Delays

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (July 27, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck and several other vehicles temporarily shut down State Route 12 west of Beck Avenue on Monday morning, triggering a SigAlert and causing significant traffic delays, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported on July 27th shortly before 10:51 a.m. on eastbound Highway 12. Initial CHP dispatch reports indicated a dark-colored SUV or pickup truck was involved, followed by reports of a semi-truck colliding with another vehicle. Dispatchers later received information suggesting a blue pickup truck, a white U-Haul pickup truck, and a possible third vehicle were also involved.

Authorities said both eastbound lanes were initially blocked as emergency crews from the Fairfield Fire Department responded to the scene. CHP officers confirmed all lanes were stopped while first responders assessed the crash and requested multiple tow trucks, including heavy-duty wreckers for a box truck or trailer involved in the collision.

At approximately 11:03 a.m., CHP issued a SigAlert for eastbound State Route 12 west of Beck Avenue, warning motorists that all lanes were blocked due to the crash and advising drivers to expect lengthy delays.

Crews worked to clear the wreckage throughout the late morning. Officers attempted to cut chains securing a Ford F-150 to a trailer to reopen at least one lane of traffic. By about 11:30 a.m., the No. 1 lane had reopened, while the No. 2 lane remained closed as recovery operations continued.

Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles, and by approximately 1:25 p.m., CHP reported no additional tow trucks were needed because the remaining vehicles were being handled at the owners’ request.

No information on injuries or the cause of the collision was immediately available. The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists traveling through the area experienced significant delays and were urged to use alternate routes while crews cleared the scene.
