Multi-Vehicle Fallbrook Crash on I-15 Freeway, Rainbow Valley Blvd.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (April 16, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway near Rainbow Valley Boulevard in the Fallbrook area left at least two people injured Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on April 16th at approximately 9:48 a.m. on the southbound I-15 near the Rainbow Valley Boulevard on-ramp. Initial reports indicated as many as four to five vehicles were involved, including a red Tesla, a gray Honda HRV, a blue Kia, a gray Nissan, and a gold Toyota Prius. However, updates from CHP logs later suggested the crash may have involved up to a dozen vehicles that ultimately came to rest along the right-hand shoulder.
Authorities said at least three vehicles sustained major damage with airbags deployed. One vehicle reportedly overturned before coming to rest upright on the right shoulder. A male occupant from the overturned vehicle was seen with a significant bump and possible head injury at the scene.
Emergency responders were called after reports that another person in a red Tesla suffered leg injuries and required medical assistance. CHP later confirmed the incident was classified as a crash with minor injuries, and at least two victims were transported to hospitals for treatment.
The crash occurred primarily on the on-ramp and right shoulder area, and no lanes were reported blocked for an extended period, though traffic in the area was impacted during the response.
Tow services were requested to remove damaged vehicles, and CHP officers remained on scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
