Semi-Truck Involved in Crash on State Route 59

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2026) — A multi-vehicle traffic crash caused temporary lane closures at Highway 59 and Reilly Road on Monday morning in Merced, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported on Jan. 12th shortly after 8:25 a.m. and initially involved three vehicles, later confirmed to include a gray Land Rover, a silver sedan, and a semi-truck. CHP logs indicate the collision triggered an automatic Apple Watch crash notification, prompting an emergency response.

Authorities initially classified the incident as having unknown injuries before upgrading it to a traffic collision with emergency medical response en route. By approximately 9:18 a.m., CHP confirmed the crash resulted in minor injuries. No air ambulance was requested, and officials reported no fatalities at the scene.

All lanes were temporarily blocked while first responders assessed injuries, cleared debris, and coordinated vehicle removal. Tow services were requested for at least two vehicles with damage.

Traffic lanes were fully reopened by approximately 9:26 a.m. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. No further information on the injured parties was immediately released.
