Multi-Vehicle Riverside Crash on 60 Freeway, Market Street (Dec. 30)
Tow Truck Driver, Semi-Truck Involved in Chain-Reaction Collision
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2025) — A tow truck driver attempting to make an emergency stop on the westbound 60 Freeway in Riverside set off a chain-reaction crash involving at least five vehicles Tuesday morning near Market Street, authorities said.
According to California Highway Patrol logs and witness reports, the tow truck driver was honking and trying to slow traffic when surrounding vehicles failed to yield or move out of the way. Moments later, the tow truck, which was hauling two vehicles, became involved in a multi-vehicle collision with a semi-truck car hauler and several passenger vehicles.

The crash was reported on Dec. 30th shortly before 8:30 a.m. on westbound State Route 60, just east of Market Street. Vehicles involved included a blue Subaru Crosstrek, a gray Honda Civic, a silver Toyota 4Runner, and a gray Mercedes, in addition to the tow truck and a big-rig car hauler. One motorist reported that the semi-truck hauling vehicles crossed multiple lanes prior to the collision.
Debris was scattered across lanes, briefly blocking traffic, though all vehicles were later moved to the right shoulder. At least one trailer became lodged underneath another trailer as a result of the impact.
Despite the severity of the crash, no serious injuries were reported. Authorities said at least one person declined medical treatment at the scene, and others reported no injuries.
Riverside Fire Department personnel responded, and tow trucks were called to remove damaged vehicles and clear the roadway.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
