
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 20, 2023) — A crash led to several other collisions Wednesday in San Diego on State Route 163, south of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
The collisions involved five motorists, beginning at 5:50 a.m. in the northbound lanes of state Route 163 in the Kearny Mesa area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Several people suffered minor injuries in three separate collisions, the report said. At least one of the vehicles involved became engulfed in flames before being hit by another motorist, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
Firefighters responded and put out the car fire on the freeway. Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
Finally, all lanes reopened to traffic after 7 a.m. and investigators are piecing together what happened to determine fault for the crash on State Route 163.
