Semi-Truck Hits Two Cars on I-8 Freeway Near Arizona Border
WINTERHAVEN, Calif. (Aug. 4, 2022) — A big rig truck collided with two cars Thursday morning on the Interstate (8) Freeway in Winterhaven, just east of Arizona Junction.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes about 10:33 a.m. on August 4th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the big rig crashed into two small cars that “were going very slow.” One of the smaller vehicles was occupied by three people and the other had four people.
The blue vehicle, a black vehicle and the semi-truck blocked both lanes of the roadway following the crash. Also, paramedics responded to the scene to help seven people who suffered injuries including children.
The Yuma Fire Department responded to help those hurt in the crash. A total of seven people were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with a range of injuries, according to police.
Meanwhile, tow trucks responded to remove all three vehicles for evidence.
Investigators are working on the case to determine liability.
