Woman Arrested on DUI Charges after Wrong-way Crash on Highway 29
NAPA, Calif. (September 17, 2019) – Murat Baspehlivan, 48, of Napa, suffered major injuries in a collision with a suspected DUI driver early Sunday morning in Napa.
The Napa driver was struck by a Vallejo woman who was driving the wrong way on Highway 29 at Tower Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported about 2:08 a.m. on September 15, police said.
Kayla Nicole Kim Clark, 36, of Vallejo, struck Baspehlivan’s 2019 Kia Forte sedan with her 2015 Chevy Malibu as she allegedly drove southbound on northbound lanes of Highway 29.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to extricate both motorists from their vehicles. They were transported by ambulances to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa to be treated for major injuries.
The CHP believes that alcohol was a factor in the crash and they subsequently arrested the Vallejo woman at the hospital on suspicion of DUI.
