MURRIETA, California (Oct. 3, 2016) — Erica Cortez, 20, of Murrieta and James Hann, 28, of El Cajon were both killed Saturday night at the intersection of Kalmia Street and Jefferson Avenue, according to a report by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The fatal crash was reported about 5:55 p.m. between a motorcycle and a vehicle. Paramedics responded and rushed the two badly injured people to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment, but the both died of their injuries about 30 minutes later.
The Murrieta Police Department is heading up the investigation.

Traffic accidents in the city of Murrieta have resulted in one death and 88 injuries including 11 to motorcyclists in 2013, according to statistics compiled by the CHP’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Report. Additionally, there were 208 people killed including 37 motorcyclists and 7,329 injured in collisions reported in Riverside County the same year, the report said.
