Murrieta Head-on Crash at Valle Vista and Avenida La Cresta

MURRIETA, Calif. (Dec. 9, 2025) — A car involved in a head-on crash hit a fire hydrant and sent water gushing into the street Tuesday near Valle Vista and Avenida La Cresta, authorities said.
The collision was reported around 11:28 a.m. as a head-on crash between a black sedan and a pickup truck, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs. A witness told officers that one of the vehicles — a Ford Raptor pickup truck — made an illegal turn before rolling onto its side and striking a fire hydrant.
The impact sheared the hydrant, sending water flowing into the roadway and prompting crews to notify Rancho Water. Emergency responders initially had difficulty determining whether anyone had been ejected from the overturned truck.
Cal Fire Riverside responded to the scene, and the incident was initially treated as involving unknown injuries before later being reclassified as a minor-injury crash. Tow requests were made for a Mercedes with major front-end damage and for the overturned Raptor.
Diamond Valley Towing was contacted to assist with vehicle recovery.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
