1 Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 15 Near Murrieta Hot Springs
MURRIETA, CA (January 14, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash injured at least one person on the Interstate 15 near Murrieta Hot Springs Road.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Friday morning. According to their dispatch team, officers reported the wreck at about 5:53 a.m.
The incident happened when a 2009 white BMW Z4 and another vehicle collided for an unknown reason in Murrieta. The two crashed on the southbound Interstate 15, just north of Murrieta Hot Springs Road.
CHP added that the BMW went about 100 feet down on the right shoulder upon impact. A 30 feet chain link fence ended up damaged and two metal posts were knocked down following the collision.
2 Vehicles Collide in Murrieta
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found an occupant of the BMW hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel provided aid to the victim for the unknown injuries they sustained in the incident. The report did not release the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the other driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area. They described the vehicle as possibly a box truck.
Officers forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 15 to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Murrieta hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
