Murrieta Police Car Accident on Jefferson Avenue; Keshon Manning Killed

Police Chase Ends in Deadly Crash at Jefferson Avenue and Los Alamos Road Thursday

Murrieta, CA (October 2, 2020) – One person died, and several others suffered injuries following a traffic collision in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Los Alamos Road early Thursday.

According to an article published by the Patch, a Murrieta police officer spotted a motorist with a vehicle code violation near Jefferson and Murrieta Hot Springs around 3 a.m. Consequently, patrolmen attempted to pull over the traffic violator. A high-speed chase ensued after the suspect failed to yield and drove away from the officers.

Our sources indicated the suspect vehicle, a BMW, entered the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Los Alamos Road against a red light. The BMW reportedly collided with a Honda car, then rolled with a forward momentum. The BMW only came to a rest after hitting a second vehicle, a Murrieta police patrol vehicle. Per local news source, the patrol vehicle was coming from the opposite direction of the chase to respond to the pursuit.

Officer, 2 Others Hospitalized After Car Accident in Murrieta at Jefferson and Los Alamos

When rescue teams arrived at the scene, they immediately worked on extricating a Murrieta police officer trapped in the wrecked patrol vehicle. An air ambulance then transported the officer to a hospital for treatment of major but non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities added two occupants from the Honda sustained injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rendered aid to the victims for what appeared to be minor to moderate injuries.

Keshon Manning Killed in Murrieta Car Accident

Lastly, two occupants in the BMW also suffered injuries in the collision. The officials identified the driver as 25-year-old Keshon Manning, of Desert Hot Springs. An ambulance transported Manning and a passenger in the BMW to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar. The news article confirmed Manning died about 3:20 p.m. Thursday. Meanwhile, the other occupant reportedly remained in intensive care.

Additional details on the horrible car accident remained undisclosed. The Investigators from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and the California Highway Patrol’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team are the agencies handling the investigation.
