Suspected DUI Driver Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-run Crash
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Feb. 12, 2019) — Myrna Cynthia Acosta, 48, was struck and killed Monday night by a suspected DUI driver who fled the scene without stopping to help the victim.

The collision took place about 7 p.m. on Edison Highway just east of East California Avenue.
CHP officers have now arrested Eliseo Martinez, 28, of Bakersfield on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run for the fatal crash. The suspect reportedly returned to the scene of the crash where he was taken into custody.
Acosta was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by Martinez’s Mercury Grand Marquis.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into the collision.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office released the victim’s name.
