Nancy Ramirez, 20; and Sandra Casarez, 21; Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 30, 2021) – Nancy Ramirez and Sandra Casarez were seriously injured after a crash at Virginia and Niles streets in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol identified the women as the victims of the accident which took place on Saturday. The wreck occurred on August 28 shortly after 12:45 a.m.
The incident began when Nancy Ramirez, 20; and Sandra Casarez, 21, were riding as passengers in a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado in Bakersfield.
CHP said the pickup was traveling on Virginia Street, approaching Niles Street, when its driver ran a red light for an unknown reason. The truck entered the intersection and struck a Kern County Sheriff’s Department patrol car.
2 Cars Collide
The Chevrolet then hit a traffic pole and overturned in an adjacent parking lot. The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire wrote that both vehicles ended up with major damage.
Nancy Ramirez and Sandra Casarez sustained major injuries as a result of the Bakersfield crash. Paramedics soon rushed them to the Kern Medical for further aid.
Medical personnel took the KCSO deputy for treatment of moderate injuries. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the man driving the Silverado abandoned the car and fled on foot.
