
Woman Killed in Palm Desert Crash on March 4th ID’d
PALM DESERT, Calif. (March 9, 2023) – Nancy Valdes, 64, of Palm Desert, died on March 4 in a pedestrian accident on Calliandra Street involving a suspected DUI driver.
The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner identified the woman as the victim struck and killed by Cameron Francis Curtis.
The 31-year-old Palm Desert man was arrested and plead not guilty to first degree murder charges for the fatal Palm Desert crash.
The traffic collision occurred around 6:09 p.m. on Saturday, March 4th at the Palm Desert intersection, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Nancy Valdes Struck by Suspected DUI Driver
The Palm Desert High School teacher and football coach was allegedly driving under the influence when his eastbound gray Nissan Frontier struck Nancy Valdes as she walked along Calliandra Street near Alamo Drive, KESQ reports.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and firefighters responded, but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:24 p.m.
Meanwhile, police investigating the crash believe that intoxication was a factor and they arrested Cameron Curtis then booked him into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. He remains in jail on $1 million bail.
