1 Killed, 2 Injured in Napa Crash Highway 29 Near Butler Bridge
NAPA, CA (August 14, 2022) – A wrong-way crash killed one person and injured several others on Highway 29 near the Butler Bridge in Napa.
According to The Napa Valley Register and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 11:30 p.m.
The incident happened on August 13 when a car was traveling south in the northbound lanes of Highway 29, just north of the Butler Bridge, in Napa.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Several Vehicles
Police said the wrong-way driver then slammed into four different vehicles going north at the time. Firefighters arrived and pronounced one motorist dead at the scene.
Two other drivers and two passengers ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed them to the Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter took one of the passengers, a 60-year-old woman, for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound Highway 29 to shut down near Butler Bridge and Highway 221 for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Napa crash is still under investigation.
