Narayana Zerr, 35, ID’d as Suspect in Clovis Fatal DUI Crash
CLOVIS, CA (June 20, 2022) – Authorities detained Narayana Zerr after a fatal DUI crash near Ashlan and Sunnyside avenues in Clovis.
Police determined that the 35-year-old Clovis man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Narayana Zerr was driving a black pickup truck west on Ashlan Avenue near Sunnyside Avenue in Clovis. At the same time, an SUV was going east.
The California Highway Patrol said he then crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the other car head-on. The pickup rolled over and came to a rest its roof as a result of the accident.
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Wreck
The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley wrote that the wreck took place on June 19 shortly before 7 p.m. The two cars collided in the Tarpey Village area.
The driver of the SUV, 41-year-old Madera resident Ashton Mckiearnan, died at the scene. His wife, a 41-year-old woman, and two children, ages 2 and 1, ended up hurt following the incident.
Paramedics rushed all three victims to the hospital for treatment. One child sustained serious injuries, including broken bones, and the other survived with moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested Narayana Zerr after the crash on suspicion of felony DUI. They booked him into the Fresno County Jail in lieu of a $93,500 bail.
The Clovis DUI crash is still under investigation.
