Driver, 23, Killed; Passenger Hurt in San Diego Crash on I-8 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 30, 2021) — Natalie Wohlford, 23, died Thursday in a solo-vehicle rollover crash on the Interstate 8 Freeway in San Diego’s Midway District near Old Town.
The Chula Vista woman was driving a Toyota Camry with one passenger when the vehicle went off the transition ramp between the I-8 Freeway and the Interstate 5 and overturned.
The San Diego collision happened at 11:54 p.m. on Thursday, March 25th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Both occupants were trapped in the car after it went down an embankment and hit a concrete support pillar. Natalie Wohlford died at the scene, but a 24-year-old man riding as a passenger in the Toyota survived. San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded and freed both people. The man was hospitalized with minor injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators seek to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash or not.
