SANTA YNEZ: Head-on Crash North Refugio Road 2 Injured in Santa Ynez Crash on North Refugio Road

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. (July 2, 2019) — Nathan Crandall, 18, and Luca J. Bandinu, 21, were injured in a head-on crash Monday night in the 2100 block of North Refugio Road.

The crash took place about 7 p.m. on Monday, July 1st between two the motorists in Santa Ynez. The pickup truck driven by Crandall caught on fire with him trapped inside the vehicle. Both vehicles suffered major damage in the crash.

Firefighters responded and put out the fire and extricated Crandall who was pinned in his vehicle

The Santa Barbara County Fire stated that they transported Bandinu by ground ambulance to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries and Crandall suffered major injuries to his shoulder, arm and he had a broken leg. He was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by police to determine cause and liability.
