Nathaniel Mata, 16, Badly Injured in Car Crash on Joaquin Gully Road
LOCATION: Twain Harte, Tuolumne County
DATE OF ACCIDENT: Saturday, November 10th
November 13, 2018 – A 16-year-old boy was injured in a solo-car crash on Joaquin Gully Road Saturday evening, according to Modesto Bee.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 16-year-old lost control while driving a Ford F-150 southbound on Joaquin Gully Road. The Ford reportedly went off the roadway when it approached a left hand curve, and drove 70-foot down an embankment.
Responding paramedics found two other teenagers in the Ford. The two 16-year-old passengers were identified as Nathaniel Mata, and Zackary Bisset. As per the article, Bisset escaped injuries but Mata was taken to a hospital for treatment of what appeared to be major injuries.
Teen DUI Driver Arrested After Major Car Crash in Twain Harte
Shortly after the accident, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Mother Lode Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.
The California Highway Patrol is the agency handling the investigation.
