9 Injured in National City Head-On Crash on Paradise Valley Road
NATIONAL CITY (December 20, 2018) – Several were injured after a traffic collision along Paradise Valley Road on Thursday afternoon, according to San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5.
The accident was reported at about 1 p.m., just east of Plaza Boulevard.
As per the reports, police said a white Scion sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Paradise Valley Road when its driver lost control of the car.
The Scion swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a Hyundai Sonata head-on. The impact forced the Sonata to ultimately collide with a Subaru. Two of the vehicles involved sustained severe damage following the crash.

Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the occupants from the mangled Scion and Hyundai.
A total of nine patients were hurt and all were hospitalized for treatment, including one who was reportedly transported to Rady Children’s Hospital. Six of them suffered major but non-life-threatening injuries.
The involved parties include four people, including a possible juvenile, were riding the Scion. Four parties were in the Hyundai and the Subaru only had its driver at the time.
The names of all the wounded individuals and their condition were not disclosed. Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Based on the reports, the driver of the Scion is accused of traveling at a high rate of speed and prompting the collision that led to injuries of multiple other parties involved. Authorities will continue to investigate and determine whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role, whether or not there was a mechanical issue with the speeding car, and whether or not the operator of the sedan distracted at time of the wreck.
