Vehicle Strikes, Kills Pedestrian at Highway 54 and 5 Freeway Saturday
National City, CA (September 11, 2021) – A deadly pedestrian accident occurred early Saturday in the area of State Route 54 and Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Earlier reports indicated one or more vehicles struck an individual in the westbound side of Bay Parkway (SR-54). The CHP log mentioned several vehicles stopped at the crash site, just east of San Diego (5) Freeway. At this time, the make and model of the cars that hit the pedestrian remained unknown.
Emergency crews arrived at the location shortly after 1:10 a.m.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in National City, September 11
Responding paramedics rendered aid to the parties found at the scene. After the evaluation, officials confirmed the pedestrian sadly died as a result of the collision. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise circumstances that led to the deadly pedestrian accident in National City.
